A Guide to Braga
Located in the North of Portugal, in the heart of the Minho region, Braga is one of the most ancient cities in the country. Described by many as the “Portuguese Rome,” the city boasts a romantic and cultural atmosphere. The alleys are colorful, the gardens are lively, and the idyllic restaurants have endless tables on the sidewalk, lit by candles.
Bom Jesus do Monte could be a setting for a movie. After taking the funicular, the first to be built in the Iberian Peninsula, you’ll find a beautiful church and the perfect park for a picnic.
While Braga is rich in history, it also presents a contemporary artistic scene for art lovers. From festivals to innovative performances at Theatro Circo, the city offers various cultural experiences throughout the year.
If mountains or the beach are more your scene, just rent a car. Mesmerizing waterfalls and long sandy beaches are very close by. The Peneda-Gerês National Park, with its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, is perfect for hiking and nature walks. Meanwhile, the Atlantic coast offers beautiful beaches ideal for a day trip or even surfing.
A Textile Heritage
Braga is an important area for textile production. The city’s heritage in the textile industry has cultivated expertise and tradition. At Ydra Studio, we are proud to be part of this rich community, drawing on generations of knowledge to produce high-quality garments. This deep-rooted connection to textile craftsmanship is evident in every piece we create, reflecting our commitment to high quality and sustainability.
